Frequently asked questions
No. Theft and blocking records belong to carriers and official registries. We validate the number and explain its structure, which already exposes fake or mistyped IMEIs.
How an IMEI number is structured
IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity: a 15-digit code that identifies a single phone. The first eight digits are the TAC, the Type Allocation Code assigned to a specific model. The next six are the unit’s serial number, and the last digit is a check digit calculated with the Luhn algorithm.
Because the check digit is derived from the other fourteen, a single mistyped or invented digit almost always breaks it. That makes validation a quick first filter when a seller sends you an IMEI: if it fails, the number was copied wrong or made up. Always compare the IMEI shown by *#06# with the one on the box and in the settings.
Whether a phone is reported stolen or blocked by a carrier is held by carriers and national registries, not by the number itself, so check that with your carrier or your country’s official service. The IMEIs you enter here are not stored.
