Frequently asked questions
Common causes are trailing commas, single quotes instead of double quotes, and unquoted keys.
Formatting and validating JSON
JSON returned by APIs is often minified into one long line. Beautifying adds line breaks and indentation so you can read it; minifying removes all extra whitespace to make it as small as possible for sending over the network.
Parsing the JSON is also the validation: if a comma, quote or bracket is missing, the parser fails and you are told the JSON is not valid. Everything runs in your browser, so sensitive payloads are never uploaded.
